## Prompt

RULES:
https://uithub.com/janwilmake/gists/tree/main/named-codeblocks.md

PROMPT:
Consider that I have a bunch of files like this in a folder:

example: HHGTTG.Phase1.Fit01.mp3
format: HHGTTG.Phase{N}.Fit{OP}.mp3

Please make me a Cloudflare worker that:

1. uses a separate build step that uses node (or bun) to explore all audio (or video) files turning the files into a json manifest that lists all playable files and also knows the exact time they should play (to the milisecond, rounding up)

2. a Cloudflare worker (written in typescript) that imports that manifest and

a) if accept header prefers application/json, returns the manifest
b) if the accept header prefers text/markdown, returns README.md that describes the files and links
c) if the accept header prefers text/html, returns a html with:
- looks at the server time
- looks if a post request was submitted with 'password' being '42', if not, renders a form to submit the password
- if it was submitted, plays the files from the playlist in a loop, starting with server time to know where to start, then just playing file by file using the manifest.json

great! the only thing is that all assets must be below 25mb. how can I ensure this? let's create preprocess.ts on my machine that uses ffmpeg through bun to reduce file size of all mp3s with a factor 2.2x

# Cloudflare Worker Audio Playlist System

I'll create a system with a build step and a Cloudflare worker that serves an audio playlist based on server time.

## ```package.json```

```json
{
  "name": "audio-playlist-worker",
  "version": "1.0.0",
  "scripts": {
    "build": "node build.js && wrangler deploy",
    "dev": "node build.js && wrangler dev",
    "wrangler": "^3.22.1",
    "typescript": "^5.3.3"
  },
  "dependencies": {
    "music-metadata": "^8.1.4"
  }
}
```

## ```build.js```

```javascript
import fs from 'fs/promises';
import path from 'path';
import { parseFile } from 'music-metadata';
const AUDIO_DIR = './audio';
const OUTPUT_FILE = './src/manifest.json';
async function getAudioDuration(filePath) {
# Cloudflare Worker Audio Playlist System
A time-synchronized continuous audio playlist player using Cloudflare Workers.
## Features
- **Build-time manifest generation**: Analyzes audio files and generates a precise timeline
- **Time-synchronized playback**: Plays files based on server time, synced across all clients
- **Multiple content types**: Serves JSON, Markdown, or HTML based on Accept header
- **Password protection**: Simple authentication for HTML player
- **Continuous loop**: Automatically loops through the entire playlist
## Setup
1. Install dependencies:
   ```bash
   npm install
   ```
2. Create an `audio` folder and add your audio files:
   ```
   audio/
   ├── HHGTTG.Phase1.Fit01.mp3
   ├── HHGTTG.Phase1.Fit02.mp3
   └── ...
   ```
3. Build and deploy:
   ```bash
   npm run build
   ```
## Usage
- **JSON API**: `curl -H "Accept: application/json" https://your-worker.dev`
- **Markdown**: `curl -H "Accept: text/markdown" https://your-worker.dev`
- **HTML Player**: Visit `https://your-worker.dev` in browser (password: `42`)
## How it works
1. Build script scans audio files and creates manifest with precise timings
2. Worker calculates current position based on server time
3. Player starts from correct file and offset, then continues sequentially
4. Playlist loops indefinitely
## Note
This example doesn't include actual audio file serving. For production, upload files to Cloudflare R2 and serve them from the worker.
```

This system creates a continuous, time-synchronized audio playlist where all users hear the same content at the same time, based on server time!

```
# Cloudflare Worker Audio Playlist System
A time-synchronized continuous audio playlist player using Cloudflare Workers with automatic audio compression.
## Features
- **Automatic compression**: Reduces audio file sizes to meet Cloudflare's 25MB limit
- **Build-time manifest generation**: Analyzes audio files and generates a precise timeline
- **Time-synchronized playback**: Plays files based on server time, synced across all clients
- **Multiple content types**: Serves JSON, Markdown, or HTML based on Accept header
- **Password protection**: Simple authentication for HTML player
- **Continuous loop**: Automatically loops through the entire playlist
## Requirements
- [Bun](https://bun.sh) runtime
- [FFmpeg](https://ffmpeg.org) installed on your system
### Installing FFmpeg
**macOS:**
```bash
brew install ffmpeg
```
**Ubuntu/Debian:**
```bash
sudo apt install ffmpeg
```
**Windows:**
Download from https://ffmpeg.org/download.html
## Setup
1. Install dependencies:
   ```bash
   bun install
   ```
2. Create an `audio-original` folder and add your audio files:
   ```
   audio-original/
   ├── HHGTTG.Phase1.Fit01.mp3
   ├── HHGTTG.Phase1.Fit02.mp3
   └── ...
   ```
3. Preprocess audio files (compress to meet size limits):
   ```bash
   bun preprocess
   ```
   This will:
   - Compress files by factor 2.2x
   - Convert to mono (single channel)
   - Ensure all files are under 25MB
   - Output to `audio/` folder
4. Build and deploy:
   ```bash
   bun build
   ```
   Or do everything in one step:
   ```bash
   bun run full-build
   ```
## Compression Details
The preprocessor:
- Reduces bitrate by factor 2.2x
- Converts to mono audio (saves ~50%)
- Maintains 44.1kHz sample rate
- Uses adaptive compression if files still exceed 25MB
- Minimum bitrate: 32kbps (for quality preservation)
## Usage
- **JSON API**: `curl -H "Accept: application/json" https://your-worker.dev`
- **Markdown**: `curl -H "Accept: text/markdown" https://your-worker.dev`
- **HTML Player**: Visit `https://your-worker.dev` in browser (password: `42`)
## How it works
1. Preprocess script compresses audio files using FFmpeg
2. Build script scans compressed audio and creates manifest with precise timings
3. Worker calculates current position based on server time
4. Player starts from correct file and offset, then continues sequentially
5. Playlist loops indefinitely
## File Structure
```
.
├── audio-original/ # Your original audio files (not deployed)
├── audio/ # Compressed files (ready for deployment)
├── src/
│   ├── index.ts        # Cloudflare Worker
│   └── manifest.json   # Generated manifest
├── preprocess.ts       # Audio compression script
├── build.js           # Manifest builder
└── package.json
```
## Troubleshooting
**Files still too large:**
- Increase `COMPRESSION_FACTOR` in `preprocess.ts`
- Try converting to mono-only format
- Consider splitting very long files
**FFmpeg errors:**
- Ensure FFmpeg is installed: `ffmpeg -version`
- Check input file format is supported
- Try updating FFmpeg to latest version
**Quality concerns:**
- Adjust `COMPRESSION_FACTOR` (lower = better quality, larger files)
- Modify minimum bitrate in `preprocess.ts`
- Keep original files in `audio-original/` for re-processing
## Note
This example doesn't include actual audio file serving. For production, upload compressed files from `audio/` folder to Cloudflare R2 and serve them from the worker.
```

## Updated ```.gitignore```

```gitignore
node_modules/
.wrangler/
dist/
audio-original/
audio/
src/manifest.json
*.log
.DS_Store
```

## Usage

1. **Install Bun** (if not already installed):
```bash
curl -fsSL https://bun.sh/install | bash
```

2. **Put your original files in `audio-original/`**

3. **Run preprocessing**:
```bash
bun preprocess
```

4. **Build and deploy**:
```bash
bun build
```

The preprocessor will:
- Reduce file size by ~2.2x (or more if needed)
- Convert to mono audio (saves ~50% alone)
- Ensure all files stay under 25MB
- Show detailed progress and file sizes
- Automatically retry with aggressive compression if needed

The compression maintains good audio quality while significantly reducing file sizes!
